Modern Maharani, conceived by the visionary artist Charuka Arora, is more than art but it is a living archive of Indian culture, mythology, and the feminine spirit. Inspired by her emotional depth, personal journey through faith, and unyielding resistance to erasure of women as being in history and mythology, Charuka transforms heirlooms, rituals, and heritage into tangible portals of memory and empowerment. Her work is not nostalgic but it is a celebration of now: textured, richly embellished, and embodied in ink, Mughal geometry, and the tactile poetry of Indian textiles.

Modern Maharani is an artistic project and cultural space that celebrates the sovereignty, resilience, and radiance of women. Founded by artist Charuka Arora, it emerges from the belief that the divine goddesses Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kali, and Parvati, although not just restricted tho it, are not distant myths, but living archetypes carried within every woman.
In a world where women’s identities are often fragmented or forgotten, Modern Maharani seeks to carry them forward, not as roles, sacrifices, or duties, but as whole beings in their complete essence. Through a fusion of mythology, History, heirlooms, rituals, and contemporary artistic practice, the project transforms art into a form of remembrance and continuity.
Each painting, textile, or object becomes an heirloom of the feminine spirit a tactile, timeless, and transcendent. Our work ensures that women are remembered not just for what they gave, but for who they were: radiant, sovereign, and eternal.
